Historic culinary space journey with Michelin-starred chef

SpaceVIP, a pioneer in luxury space travel experiences, is set to make history by hosting an immersive dining experience in space. The event will feature Michelin-starred Chef Rasmus Munk from the renowned restaurant Alchemist.

The expedition will take place in aboard the world’s first carbon-neutral spaceship, Space Perspective’s Spaceship Neptune. Six explorers will have the unique opportunity to enjoy a meal above 99% of Earth’s atmosphere, making this a truly historic event.

Each explorer will be outfitted by the French fashion house Ogier, which will craft made-to-measure outfits using cutting-edge fabric technology developed specifically for this mission. The six-hour journey is set to launch in 2025 from Florida’s Space Coast, with tickets starting at $495k. All proceeds from this expedition will benefit the Space Prize Foundation, which is dedicated to promoting gender equity in science and technology.

The Spaceship Neptune provides a completely reimagined spaceflight experience, requiring no training or special gear. The spacecraft, lifted gently by a SpaceBalloon™, will ascend 100,000 ft above sea level. Explorers will dine while watching the sunrise over the Earth’s curvature. They will also have Wi-Fi on board and are welcome to livestream their experience and connect with loved ones on Earth during their flight.

Chef Rasmus’s imaginative creations will enhance every step of the experience. His dishes will be inspired by the role of space exploration during the last 60 years of human history and its impact on our society, both scientifically and philosophically. Through the language of Holistic Cuisine, Chef Rasmus will inspire thought and discussion on humanity’s role in protecting our planet.

“Immersiveness is central to Holistic Cuisine, and my ambition is to blend gastronomy with art and science to create awareness about social and environmental issues,” said Chef Rasmus Munk of Alchemist. “In this experience, I want to highlight food as a common thread in our human existence, and it will be truly meaningful to serve it while gazing down at the Earth’s curvature.”

Space travelers often report a profound understanding that we collectively have one home and that all living beings are interconnected. This phenomenon, often referred to as the Overview Effect, can inspire a greater appreciation for Earth and a deep connection to humanity as a whole. With food being an essential part of human existence, creating a system with equal access to it will only be possible through radical collaboration and a paradigm shift.
